Dan seals fourth at IPC World Championships in Doha

30th Oct, 2015

Dan  just missed out on the medals on day one of the IPC World Athletic Championships in Doha on Thursday night.

Competing in the F44 discus, he was up against his arch rival Jeremy Campbell and USA newcomer David Blair for the medals and got off to a bad start when his first two attempts were no throws putting him in danger of not advancing to the final three throws.

He recorded a distance of 46.88m with his third attempt and moved into the bronze medal position in round four with a throw of 54.79m but some distance behind Campbell and Blair who both recorded throws in excess of 60 metres

In round five Dan couldn’t improve on his earlier throw, recording a distance of 54.70m and then saw Trinidad’s Akeem Stewart throw a massive 59.13m to go ahead of the Loughborough man and into the bronze medal position.

In the sixth and final round, Dan produced his best throw of the event, but at 56.95m wasn’t enough to earn a place on the podium.

Jeremy Campbell claimed gold with his first round throw of 61.21m, a new championship record, with David Blair’s new PB of 60.46m earning him the silver medal, and Trinidad’s Akeem Stewart taking bronze with 59.13m.
